Gas Analysis

Sample Gas Probes

Either in environmental related gas analysis like  stack testing, continuous emission monitoring (CEM), vehicle emission testing or LEL warning indication and in process applications like combustion efficiency monitoring, boiler trim, ethylene plants or petro chemistry, sample gas needs to be extracted from the gas stream.

It is obvious, that for a reliable analysis the sample gas must be extracted free of ambient gas leaking into the system and at the same time the dew point of the sample must remain stable.

This explains why the sample gas probe is the important interface between the process and the analyser system.

Quality, reliability and low operation cost have been the main targets for the development of this programme. The results are outstanding: the modular design allows application specific combinations in a very price effective manner.

The GAS 222 series of sample probes provides "down to earth" solutions based on advanced modular designs.Depending on the application, a variaty of heated or unheated basis units can be combined with in-situ or downstream filters. The filter material can be chosen from sintered ceramic to sintered stainless steel or even pleated stainless steel. Filters with large surfaces provide long life time. For the in-situ filters a highly efficient blowback system is available at reasonable cost.

The ECO series covers a broad range of applications with high dust loads but do not require heating. The directly attached blowback devices plus a variaty of filter elements with large surface areas are the features of these probes.

The APO series provides professional material for simple applications.

Sample Gas Filters

The distance between the extraction point of sample gas and the analyser cabinet is normally bridged by tubes or hoses in continuous emission monitoring (CEM) systems. Depending on the method of analysis (FDIR, HFID, hot wet analysis, total hydrocarbons, etc.), these gas lines can be unheated or must be heated to prevent unwanted condensate formation.

Due to the nature of such installations, additional in-line filtration is required.

Bühler offers a wide selection of unheated and heated filters specifically designed for gas sampling applications.

Sample Gas Pumps

The transportation of sample gas in sample conditioning systems requires very reliable sample pumps. Of course, the sample gas should have an equal and steady flow but very often the corrosive nature of the gas and the presence of condensate form the real task for the pump.

The sample pumps are equipped with a bellow made of solid PTFE which has proven its reliability and long lifetime in numerous applications. If the pump head is pointed downwards the pump is able to pump sample gas with condensate contents.

A special flange design makes the P2.4 and P2.84 pumps suitable for hot applications i.e. the flange is designed of two parts, one -carrying the pump head - can be installed into a heated cabinet and the other part - carrying the electrical motor - is flanged to the outside of the cabinet keeping the motor in ambient conditions.

Sample Gas Coolers

A very effective range of heat exchangers made from various materials in connection with high performance cooling systems provides exceptional stable dew points, an essential issue for trouble free analyser systems. Compact physical dimensions require little installation space. A broad range of accessories help to discharge the condensate efficiently.

Flow Meters

Material composition and configuration are particulary made for sample conditioning systems. Needle valve and flow controller are available optional.

Accessories

An interesting range of portable and stationary gas analysers with various configurations and measuring principles.

NOx converter

Easy and reliable conversion of NOx to NO. Long lifetime, no production of CO and CO2. No cross interference with water.

In order to keep the NOx measurement in EPA method 7E and 20 in an economic frame, for example for applications like diesel NOx monitoring or automobile NOx monitoring, the conversion of  NOx into NO with Nox Converter is the best economical and reliable solution.

The sample gas streams through a catalyst filled cartridge inserted into an oven which is heated up to over 400°C. The catalyst converts the NOx to NO and thus makes the analysis possible with IR analysers.

O2 in situ process analyzers

An interesting range of portable and stationary gas analysers with various configurations and measuring principles.

A broad range of applications like boiler trim, emission monitoring, ammonia slip monitoring, combustion efficiency, LEL warning indication or inner atmosphere control require analysers with different measuring principles. Bühler offers optical, paramagnetic and zirconium technologies as well as tuned diode laser (TDL) gas analysers.

Prebfab Conditioning Systems

Every kind of gas analysis, either fairly straight forward single component analysis or complex multi component process gas analysis require application specific sample gas conditioning systems. These systems must deliver continuously reliable process data even under varying ambient and/ or process conditions.

It is quite obvious, that stack testing has other requirements than engine emission testing, EPA methods testing or process applications in the food industry just to name a few.

Bühler  delivers modular designed prefabricated systems as mobile or stationary stand alone or 19” rack mount solutions and assists in planning application specific gas analysis systems on panels, in cubicles or analyser shelter.

TC-Double+: washout optimized

Low washout effects. One gas path. Duran glass or PVDF heat exchanger. Dew point stability 0.1°C. Suitable for AMS according to EN15267-3
